Operating principle

After passing through a macerator, the progressive cavity feed pump feeds the sludge through an electromagnetic flow meter into the ALDEC decanter centrifuge. The pump is driven by a variable frequency drive to permit adjustment of dewatering capacity. The polymer feed system introduces the polymer simultaneously into the decanter bowl to aid flocculation of the sludge. Instantaneous sludge sedimentation takes place in the decanter centrifuge due to the effects of high centrifugal force. An external screw conveyor then transfers the sludge cake to the cake collection point, and the clarified liquid is discharged by a pipe at the bottom of the module. A combined control/starter panel is used to start/stop all the equipment in the complete module to control them while in operation.
